International Conference Doors & Closures: WITTE Presents the Side Access of the Future

  • Date:

On November 18 and 19, 2025, the International Conference Doors & Closures 2025 took place in Bad Nauheim, Germany. Over the years, this renowned industry conference has effectively become a “home event” for WITTE Automotive. Once again, we participated as both a speaker and exhibitor. With approximately 170 participants from Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Canada, and the United States, as well as around 20 different OEMs, the conference provided a high-caliber, truly international environment.

Experience Innovation Live: Charging Flap Solution and the Side Access of the Future

On site, Reinaldo Mensch, Dr. Andreas Löffler, and Christian Trinks presented our latest pre-development projects and innovations. The main focus was on:

  • our innovative Charging Flap Solution
  • the WITTE Side Access of the Future
  • as well as a fully functional door demonstrator that allowed visitors to experience our technologies firsthand.

In particular, the door demonstrator enabled industry experts to experience, test, and discuss our concepts for intelligent and safe access systems live and in detail.

Presentation „New Generation of smart and safe vehicle access“

A special highlight of the International Conference Doors & Closures 2025 was our presentation, “New Generation of Smart and Safe Vehicle Access,” delivered by Reinaldo Mensch together with our partner HQ Europe.

At the core of the presentation was a holistic system for the side access of the future, combining various WITTE components into an intelligent, fully integrated system:

  • Facial recognition via a camera integrated into the B-pillar
  • Surroundings monitoring using a radar sensor
  • An additional door check from HQ Europe

The door check not only protects against damage caused by bollards or other obstacles, but also plays a key role in preventing so-called dooring accidents, for example with cyclists—by actively slowing the door when a potential hazard is detected.

Feedback from the international expert audience was consistently positive, a response that was also reflected in the in-depth discussions at our booth.

International Visibility for Intelligent Access Systems

Another highlight of the event was the presentation by our customer BMW on the New Class, which gave special recognition to “our” nTAG handle at several points. The WITOLe fastening system for the door handle was also explicitly mentioned.

Several vehicles were showcased at the conference, including the iX3 equipped with the previously mentioned nTAG handle, which attracted significant attention.

The International Conference Doors & Closures 2025 in Bad Nauheim once again proved to be an ideal platform for us to demonstrate our innovation leadership in vehicle access systems, exterior door handles, and intelligent integrated solutions for the side access of the future.

We would like to thank all discussion partners for the valuable exchange and look forward to turning the momentum from Bad Nauheim into concrete projects—and to the next industry conference in 2026.
