RIKU Kunststoff inaugurates new building
1.000 m² new area for production, tooling manufacture and social rooms
(Bitburg) The plastic part manufacturer RIKU (Bitburg), subsidiary company of the automobile supplier WITTE Automotive with headquarters in Velbert, inaugurated its new building in Bitburg, Lilienthalstraße 11, on July 10th 2009. The total concern area is more than doubled by the hall construction. Assembly lines, a finished part warehouse, the extension of the mould and die production and social rooms will be placed in this new 1000 m² extension to the previous business.
RIKU manufactures technical plastic parts with decorative surfaces – mainly outside door handles for the automobile industry. Despite the global economic crisis RIKU places long-term emphasis on production and capacity expansion. Outside door handles for AUDI, VW and Skoda, which were partly new acquired, are manufactured in the new hall. The flow of material from the raw materials warehouse beyond the production till the finished part warehouse gets a new structure by the use of this new building. “Thereby we are able to organise our processes more effective”, explains CEO Richard Eckertz. As well the meanwhile necessary external storage areas are dropped. The new social rooms should make a contribution to motivating employment conditions.“With this step the WITTE-Group associates a promise to the location Bitburg. Seen in the long term new jobs should be provided”, says CEO Richard Eckertz.
Since 1988 RIKU manufactures plastic parts for the automobile industry. In 1995 the automobile supplier WITTE Automotive took over this Bitburg business by the majority. With its more than 1000 employees belongs RIKU to the “Top 20” of Bitburg employers. The construction of the new hall strengthens the position of RIKU as manufacturer of plastic outside door handles.
